Did you attend the Global Mentorship Conference (GMC) 2023? If Yes, here’s the opportunity to catch up on the highlights from one of the most impactful mentorship events of the year. With participants across the globe and Africa at the heart of its mission, GMC 2023 was an incredible testament to the power of mentorship in shaping careers and driving global change.
A Year of Impact: GMC 2023 in Numbers
With 24,000 registered participants from over 54 countries, virtually and onsite in Lagos, Nigeria, GMC 2023 emphasized the global demand for mentorship and its role in career acceleration. According to recent research, professionals with mentors are 80% more likely to experience career success and 5x more likely to be promoted. These statistics came to life as we saw participants’ careers transform right before our eyes.
SDG Alignment: Mentorship for Global Development
At its core, the GMC 2023 edition was designed to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
- SDG 4: Quality Education
- SDG 5: Gender Equality
- SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
Our commitment to these goals was not just theoretical but practical. Through GMC’s mentorship programs, we empowered young professionals across Africa, contributing to developing a skilled and diverse global workforce.
Watch Dr. Aderinsola Adio-Adepoju discuss the importance of SDGs in this video.

Success Stories: Transforming Lives Through Mentorship
One of the standout stories from GMC 2021 is that of @Njemo Naomi, who found clarity and purpose through the GMC mentorship program. With guidance from her mentor, Naomi revived her YouthKonnect project, which aims to uplift and educate young Africans. Her journey didn’t stop there—thanks to her GMC experience, Naomi was selected for the 2023 Obama Foundation Africa Leaders Program.
Naomi’s story, along with countless others, highlights how mentorship aligns with SDG 4 and SDG 8, proving that mentorship is key to personal empowerment and economic growth.
